Gymnogaster buphthalma was described in 1850 by Blanchard on one female. None another example has been caught until 1983. This species is rehabilitated. The author give the description of the unknown male and the diagnosis of the genus. Distribution, dates of collecting and biology are reviewed. Many of the morphological characters are illustrated by line drawings. The lectotype female is designated and an historical résumé of the genus complete this presentation.

In this faunal study two new genera and seven new species of Sericinae from the Comoros Islands are described. The new generic names proposed are : Blebea, Ercomoana. A faunal study of the Pachydeminae from the Gulf of Aden subregion is presented. In this study seven species are recorded from this area. Canudema socotrae gen. n., sp. n., is described from Socotra and compared to Tanyproctus puncticeps (Waterhouse) and Elaphocerella variabilis Moser. Lectotypes are designated. A new combination is established : Tanyproctoides arabicus (Arrow nec Petrovitz, 1932). 1999d. Revision of the genus Europtron with description of Europtron atlanticum sp. n. from Morocco.
The pachydemine genus Europtron Marseul, 1867 is revised. Currently, three species are recognized : E. gracile Marseul, 1867, E. confusum Marseul, 1878 (both from Algeria) and E. atlanticum sp. n. from the Atlantic coast of Morocco. The new species differs from both of the previously known North African species mainly by remakably densely punctate and setaceous clypeus, by all around setaceous pronotum, and by shape of metatibia and parameres. The female of E. gracilis is described for the first time, females of E. confusum and E. atlanticum sp. n. are still unknown. Europtron ibericum Balthasar, 1929 is considered a junior objective synonym of E. confusum. Known distribution of all three species is mapped and their bionomy is discussed.

Description of two new species of Tanyproctus from Yunnan (China) : T. francottei sp. n. and T. mourzinei sp. n. from Mts Haba, N.W. Yunnan. The South American Rutelid genus Geniatosoma Costa Lima is reviewed. Geniatosoma is one of 12 genera placed in the tribe Geniatini (317 species). Geniates niger was described by Ohaus (1917) in the genus Geniates and placed in Geniatosoma n. gen. by Costa Lima (1940). A new species from Brasil is described. The genus Geniatosoma includes 3 species : G. nigrum (Ohaus) from French Guiana, G. matilei n. sp. and G. fernandezi Martinez both from Brasil. Recent collecting trips in French Guiana have helped to elucidate confusions and errors in the taxonomy of this genus. A neotype for G. nigrum (Ohaus) is designated and deposited at MNHU, Berlin. A faunal study of the Pachydeminae from East Africa is presented. 2002a. Melolonthidae of Socotra Island, Yemen.
A faunal study of the Melolonthidae from Socotra Island is presented. In this study five species from three genera are recorded from this area: Canuschiza minuta Lacroix, C. insularis Lacroix, Tanyproctus puncticeps (Waterhouse), T. canui Lacroix and Canudema socotrae Lacroix. All species and 2/3 of the genera are endemic to the Socotra Archipelago. The following information is provided for each species: bibliographical references, diagnosis, data for the studies material, illustration of male genitalia and important external characters used for comparative tables, taxonomic remarks. Keys to Melolonthidae subfamilies, Melolonthinae tribes, Melolonthinae and Pachydeminae genera and species are provided.
Until my previous two studies of the Melolonthidae, Pachydema puncticeps Waterhouse, 1881, had been the only one species of this family that was known from Socotra Island. Recent collections made in 1993 by Dr J.-G. Canu led to the description of a new taxon belonging to a new genus : Canudema socotrae Lacroix, 1994.
Recently, new collections made during the year 1997 by Dr J.-G. Canu, proved that the faunal inventory is not yet complete (Cambefort, 1998).
From these recent collections, three new Melolonthidae were described in 1999 by M. Lacroix : Tanyproctus canui belonging to Pachydeminae and very different from T. puncticeps (Waterhouse); Canuschiza minuta and C. insularis, two new species belonging to Schizonychini and put in a new genus.

Four new synonyms for species : Eulepida sororia Moser, 1913, with Eulepida mamboiae Brenske, 1896 ; Eulepida kolbei Moser, 1913, with Eulepida nitidicollis Kolbe, 2894 ; Eulepida pagana Kolbe, 1894 and Eulepida sansibarica Kolbe, 1894, with Eulepida sinuatifrons (Fairmaire, 1887).
Byrsalepis mikindana Brenske, 1898, is designated as type species for the genus Byrsalepis Brenske, 1898 (not designated by Brenske and two species in the same original description).
Leucopholis lepidota Klug, 1855, is designated as type species for the genus Eulepida Kolbe, 1894 (not designated by Kolbe in the original publication).
Lectotypes are designated for : Pegylis hauseri Brenske, 1898, Pegylis neumanni Kolbe, 1894, Spaniolepis leonina (Arrow, 1943). In the genus Eulepida Kolbe, lectotypes are designated for : Eulepida anatina Brenske, 1896 ; Eulepida manowensis Moser, 1913 ; Eulepida minor Moser, 1913 ; Eulepida montana Kolbe, 1894 ; Eulepida kolbei Moser, 1913 ; Eulepida nyassica Kolbe, 1894 ; Eulepida sansibarica Kolbe, 1894.

Description of Scaphorhina schoolmeestersi n. sp. from Namibia. The affinities between the species located in the region are discussed. The four taxa located in Namibia and belonging to the genus Scaphorhina Quedenfeldt, 1884, are illustrated by habitus figures, drawings of male genitalia and external characters used in key.
2011b. Kenyalepis montana, nouveau genre et nouvelle espèce de Leucopholini d’Afrique orientale.
Description, discussion and illustration of Kenyalepis montana, new genus and new species from Kenya. The affinities between the genus Kenyalepis and other afrotropical genera are discussed. This taxon is illustrated by habitus figures, drawings of male genitalia and external characters.
2012. Révision du genre Entyposis Kolbe, 1894 (Insecta, Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea, Melolonthidae).
Le genre Entyposis Kolbe, 1894, est révisé. La position de ce genre au sein des Schizonychini est discutée. Le taxon cavicollis Fairmaire, 1887, est désigné comme espèce type du genre. Une nouvelle combinaison est proposée : Entyposis nyukana (Kolbe, 1910) pour Schizonycha nyukana Kolbe, 1910. Les synonymies entre mendax, Péringuey, 1904, nyukana Kolbe, 1910, et montana Moser, 1913, sont confirmées. Des lectotypes sont désignés pour les taxons cavicollis, nyukana et montana. Six nouvelles espèces sont décrites : bidentata, martinezi, rasplusi, recava du Mozambique, excavata de Tanzanie et squamulata du Kenya et Tanzanie. Un historique du genre et de ses espèces est établi.
2013. Contribution à la connaissance des Melolonthidae afrotropicaux.
The examination of an important lot of recently collected afrotropical Melolonthidae and belonging to the I.R.Sc.N.B. Bruxelles allowed the description of new species, the redescription of species on unique, old events, in poor condition or of which one of the sexes was not known, as well as to widen the distribution of a number of species. The new species are : Malawinophylla murphyi n. gen. n. sp. from Malawi and Zambia, Pegylis murphyi n. sp. from Malawi, Pegylis salernei malawinensis n. ssp. from Malawi.
2013. Révision du genre Perrindema Lacroix 1997 (Coleoptera : Scarabaeoidea : Melolonthidae : Pachydeminae).
Le genre Perrindema Lacroix, 1997, est révisé. La position systématique de ce genre au sein des Pachydemini Burmeister, 1855, est discutée. La synonymie entre Perrindema Lacroix, 1997, et Zanitanus Lacroix, 2001, est proposée. Une nouvelle combinaison est établie pour Cephaloncheres lindiensis Moser, 1919. Deux nouvelles espèces sont décrites : Perrindema quiterajoensis n. sp. et P. pembaensis n. sp., du Mozambique. Un historique du genre est donné ainsi qu’une clé de détermination. La conservation de l’utilisation du nom Pachydeminae au détriment de Tanyproctinae Erichson, 1847, est argumentée.
